Go to the Dinner

April 6, 2006

kr’s note: For all you Chicago people… there’s nothing else exciting going on Friday night… go to the dinner.

Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope
Continuing support for the victims of the South Asian Earthquake

With Special Guests

Rashid Lateef and Moin Khan
Former Captains, Pakistan National Cricket Team

earthquake which devastated the South Asian subcontinent in October has
affected millions. Islamic Relief is working hard on the ground and
around the world in order to ensure that the 3,000,000 people left
homeless are not forgotten. While the initial needs of the people, in terms of food, clothing, and medicine, have been met (to the best of our abilities), a larger problem remains: how do we help people continue with their lives. Please join us to help us in our efforts to
provide sustained rebuilding and rehabilitation projects to a
devastated population. Islamic Relief is trying to raise another $40 million in order to start rebuilding projects.

What was started nearly two months ago has nearly reached its conclusion. Alhamdulillah, we’ve sold nearly 400 tickets (the most ever sold before an IRW dinner in Chicago), and we’re hoping to have more than 500 people, Inshallah.

How you can help:

1. Most importantly, make du’a for the success of this event, especially during the late night hours, after each prayer, and during Jumu’ah this week. We hope to raise $200k; if God wills, we can exceed these expectations.

2. Attend the dinner with your families.

3. Spread the word to your friends, relatives, and neighbors… especially if they’re ballers and can (mashallah) write a 4 figure check and not think twice about it.

4. We need volunteers. If you would like to volunteer on the day of the event, email me at
