 20,000 and Counting…

Just saw that the hit counter surpassed the 20,000 visitor mark yesterday. Wow, I’m simply amazed that so many people have visited and taken the time to read my incoherent rants about various topics.

When I started this site, it was meant to be a place wherein I could write down my thoughts on anything and everything. Some people ask why I don’t write more Islam-related posts; others ask why I don’t do more social commentary with humor type of posts. Well, the answer is quite simple. I didn’t want to make this site limited to either topic as I’ve always felt that there’s things to be learnt from even the most mundane events and seemingly unimportant people around us. Most of the times, however, people are unable to see these lessons in such things. Essentially, then, this site is my take on various topics, for better or worse.

Anyway, I am honored that so many of you have chosen to spend a few minutes to browse through what I have to say. If there has been any good from this site, it has been due to the Grace and Mercy of God, and I’ve been nothing more than the medium for that.

Thanks for the hits. “And we won’t stop… cause we can’t stop”

Finally, I’d like to share a story that I think sums up the biggest quality that is lacking in our Ummah today: the Prophetic attribute of forgiveness to those who have wronged you. The story is from the writings of the great mystic-scholar, Abu Yazid al-Bistami, who once was performing his ablutions near a river, and left some of his belongings to the side. A man came along and stole them, so Abu Yazid chased after him and finally caught him. The thief was mortified that he would be handed over to the authorities or the great shaykh would punish him himself. But instead, the shaykh let him go and said, “I just wanted to tell you that you can have this so that you’re safe from the account of your Lord.”
